Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Several Provinces
Sri Lanka is expected to experience cloudy skies and increased rainfall over the next few days due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance persisting in the Bay of Bengal near the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Northern and Southern provinces. Heavy rainfall of around 100–150 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central, Uva and Southern provinces. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is also possible at some places in other parts of the island.
Misty conditions may develop in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early morning hours. The public is advised to remain attentive to future weather forecasts and take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
