Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts after 1.00 p.m. These afternoon showers may bring temporary localized strong winds and lightning, and the public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damages.
For the rest of the island, mainly dry weather conditions will prevail, providing relatively stable weather during the daytime. However, misty conditions are likely during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts. Motorists are urged to be cautious due to reduced visibility caused by morning mist.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle and Matara. Winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction with speeds of 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions around the island will be slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers, and naval and fishing communities are advised to remain alert.
