Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places across Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m., particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-Western and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts. Morning showers are also likely in parts of the Southern Province and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Monaragala districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm can be expected in some areas, especially in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, and in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Meanwhile, mainly dry weather will prevail in other parts of the island.
Misty conditions may develop during the early morning hours in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions against lightning and temporary strong winds during thundershowers.
Due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka during this period, with areas such as Cheddikulam, Kebithigollewa, Gomarankadawala and Nilaveli experiencing overhead sun around midday today.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in sea areas from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa. Winds will be south-westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, and sea conditions will generally be slight, though temporarily rough during thundershowers.
