Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces after 2.00 p.m. Similar weather conditions will also affect the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts during the afternoon or evening hours. These showers may be accompanied by temporary localized strong winds and lightning, and the public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce possible damages.
Meanwhile, mainly dry weather will prevail across most other parts of the island throughout the day. During the early morning hours, misty conditions can be expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district.
Due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it is currently positioned directly over parts of Sri Lanka. Today, areas such as Nagawilluwa, Galgamuwa, Sigiriya, Palugasdamana and Mankerni will experience overhead sun around 12:11 p.m.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers are likely in sea areas from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle and Matara. Winds will be south-westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, increasing up to 40 kmph at times. Sea conditions may be fairly rough in these areas, while other sea regions will remain slight. Temporarily strong winds and rough seas are possible during thundershowers.
