Atmospheric conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to become favorable for afternoon thundershowers over the next few days starting from April 2. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, North-Western and North-Central provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala district. Meanwhile, a few morning showers may occur in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Hambantota districts.
Misty conditions can be expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the day, potentially reducing visibility in some areas. The public is advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may develop in sea areas from Kalutara to Batticaloa via Galle, Hambantota and Pottuvil. Winds will be variable at 20–30 kmph, and the sea condition around the island will remain slight. However, strong gusty winds and rough seas may occur temporarily during thundershowers.
