SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST 19 JULY 2026

Sri Lanka is expected to experience a mix of showery and dry weather on 19 July 2026, according to the latest weather forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on 18 July 2026. Several spells of showers are forecast for Sabaragamuwa Province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, bringing cool and wet conditions to the central highlands.

A few light showers are also likely in the Western and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, the rest of the island is expected to enjoy mainly dry weather, making it favorable for outdoor activities in many areas.

Residents in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, along with the Matale, Monaragala, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts, should be prepared for strong winds of 40–50 kmph at times. These gusty conditions may affect travel, especially for high-sided vehicles and those engaging in outdoor work.

Sea Condition

Sea conditions will also remain unsettled around parts of the island. A few showers are expected in the sea areas extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle. South-westerly winds will generally blow at 30–40 kmph, increasing to 50–60 kmph in sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Winds may also reach 50 kmph from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaitivu.

As a result, the sea will be rough in the western, northwestern, northern, and southeastern coastal waters, while the northeastern sea areas may be fairly rough at times. Fishermen and mariners are advised to exercise caution before venturing into these waters.
