Showers Expected in Several Provinces
Sri Lanka is expected to experience unsettled weather conditions on Friday, 30 October 2026, with several spells of showers forecast for parts of the island. Rainfall will affect several provinces, while afternoon thundershowers and fairly heavy rainfall are expected in selected areas.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. A few showers may also occur in the North-Western Province. Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts, after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in these areas. Residents are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly during afternoon and evening thundershowers. Mainly fair weather is expected to prevail in other parts of the island.
Misty conditions may develop at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the early morning hours. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
