Cyclonic Storm “Arnab” over coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam and the adjoining west-
central Bay of Bengal is expected to weaken gradually, while a separate low-pressure
area over the South Andaman Sea is likely to intensify and move towards the Andhra
Pradesh coast, according to the latest weather bulletin.

The remnant of Cyclone Arnab, located over southern Chhattisgarh and adjoining Odisha,
moved nearly northwards at around 18 kmph during the six hours preceding 0300 UTC
on October 29, 2026. The system was forecast to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure
area over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining Northwest Odisha by 1200 UTC on the same
day.

The bulletin indicated that the system was under continuous surveillance by the
Doppler Weather Radar at Raipur. Its estimated central pressure was 1000 hPa, with
maximum sustained winds of around 25 knots and gusts reaching 35 knots.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood persisted
on October 29. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression
over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands around
October 31. The system may intensify further and continue moving towards the Andhra
Pradesh coast over the following two days.

Squally weather, with winds of 35–45 kmph gusting up to 55 kmph, was forecast over
parts of the Andaman Sea and adjoining waters. Winds could increase to 40–50 kmph,
gusting to 60 kmph, over the southeast Bay of Bengal and nearby areas.

Sea conditions were expected to become rough to very rough over parts of the Andaman
Sea and the northwest Bay of Bengal, with gradual improvement forecast in some affected
areas.
