Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across most parts of Sri
Lanka after 1.00 p.m. on 04 October. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely
at some locations in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern, Uva, North-Western
and North-Central provinces.

The widespread afternoon rainfall could bring temporarily unsettled weather conditions
across the island. The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize
possible damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
People engaged in outdoor activities should remain alert as weather conditions may
change rapidly during thunderstorms.

Misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva
provinces during the early morning hours. Reduced visibility may occur in these
areas, particularly along roads and higher elevations.

**Sea Areas Forecast – Next 24 Hours**

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending
from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.

Winds will be south-westerly, with speeds of 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions around the
island are expected to remain slight under normal conditions. However, during thundershowers,
temporarily strong gusty winds of 60–70 kmph and very rough seas can occur.

Marine communities and fishermen are advised to remain attentive to changing weather
conditions, particularly during thunderstorms.
