# SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, 02 OCTOBER 2026

Sri Lanka is expected to experience widespread showers and thundershowers on 02 
October 2026, with rain likely across most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. The
afternoon and evening weather is expected to become more unsettled, with several
areas receiving moderate to heavy rainfall.

Fairly heavy falls exceeding 75 mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa,
Uva, Southern, North-Western and North-Central provinces. Residents in these areas
are advised to remain alert to possible localized flooding and difficult travel 
conditions, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.

Misty conditions can be expected in some parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and 
Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning. Reduced visibility may affect
motorists, especially on roads in hilly areas. Drivers are encouraged to exercise
additional caution when travelling during misty conditions.

The public is also advised to take adequate precautions during thundershowers. Temporary
localized strong winds and lightning may occur, creating hazardous conditions for
people outdoors.

### **Sea Areas Forecast**

During the next 24 hours, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in
the sea areas extending from Mullaittivu to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa,
particularly during the evening or night.

Winds will be south-westerly at speeds of 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions around the 
island are expected to remain slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and
very rough seas may develop during thundershowers. Fishermen and other sea users
are advised to remain cautious and monitor weather conditions before venturing into
the sea.
